Mosquitoes and ticks
Ticks pose a serious public health risk in our area. Bruce County has recently been recognized as a hotspot for ticks, and Lyme disease has been identified. While a bite from the Black legged tick can cause Lyme disease, there are other pathogens carried by other ticks found in our area. For example, the Lonestar tick has been directly linked to Alpha-Gal syndrome, which can actually make you violently allergic to red meat and pork.
Mosquito species such as the Culex are known to transmit West Nile fever. Other species can not only cause discomfort, but are also responsible for the spread of diseases such as the Zika virus, Malaria and more. There are five types of mosquitoes and four types of ticks that can be found in Ontario, all of which have the ability to transmit various diseases. The best way to stay safe is to educate yourself about the risks associated with these pests and implement an Integrated Pest Management Strategy.

Mosquitoes
There are five types of mosquitoes found in Ontario and unfortunately they all have different breeding cycles. From early spring to late fall, these different species will continue to breed and some will hatch multiple times per season. The common pathogens that mosquitoes can carry include: West Nile fever, Zika virus, Malaria, Dengue, Encephalitis, and Chikungunya.
Ticks
With four main types of ticks having made their way north to our region there is much to be concerned about. Parts of Bruce County have been identified as a “hot spot” for Lyme disease by Grey Bruce Health Services and more and more ticks are being identified every day. Diseases such as Lyme disease, Alpha-Gal syndrome and Rocky Mountain spotted fever are cause for serious concern.
Spiders
While they don’t pose a public health risk, they can sure make a mess of your house or cottage. There is nothing quite like walking face first into a freshly made spiderweb when walking out of the house or cottage to enjoy a coffee on a beautiful summer morning. Not to mention, webs that seem to end up in every corner as well as the mess that they leave on the walls and floor underneath where they make their homes.

IS IT safe?
YES! All of the products we use are approved by Health Canada's Pest Management Regulatory Agency (PMRA) which is the federal agency responsible for regulating all pesticides in Canada. Before a pesticide is considered for registration in Canada, it must undergo extensive testing to determine the potential risks posed to human health and the environment.
At No Worries Insect Control we use both conventional and natural pest control products. Our conventional control products have all been approved for mitigating nuisance pests by the PMRA, the World Health Organization, the USA and European counterparts.. All of our products have been deemed safe for use around pets and children once the initial exclusion time has passed.
